(Beijing, 2011-4-20) There is USD14 billion government funding allocated to CCS projects and R&D activities by the end of 2010, as Global CCS Institute’s latest report indicated. It is a great achievement, but still with a lot of upside potential. Let us compare it with below data.
$14 billion- government funding allocated to CCS projects and R&D activities by the end of 2010 19% - CCS will contribute to global GHG emission reduction in 2050 (IEA Prediction)
$20.4 billion - The bare plant cost of UAE’s ENEC 4 x 1400 MWe APR-1400 Power Plant. 6% - Nuclear Energy will only contribute 6% of global GHG emission reduction in 2050 (IEA Prediction)
$35 billion– The global research and development funding in clean energy in 2010 20% - Clean (Renewable Energy) will contribute to 20% of global GHG emission reduction in 2050 (IEA Prediction)
Carbon Capture and Storage, as one of the crucial technology options to reduce GHG emission by 2050, it deserves more effort and equally opportunity in the next 10 years. (Editor:admin) |
